Board
of Directors 2012-1015
The Western Coastal Board consists of 8 members appointed by the Minister
for the Environment and Climate Change for a three-year term under the
Coastal Management Act, 1995. The Board was appointed for the period
1 July 2012 to 30 June 2015. The Directors are:

Jill Parker (Chair)

|
Jill was a teacher for 20+ years, specialising in biology, chemistry
and agricultural science at senior secondary level. She holds
degrees in Agricultural Science and Education from the University
of Melbourne. Jill Parker is currently a Councillor at Moyne Shire.
As well as involvement in other committees and boards, Jill chairs
the Moyne Shire Conservation and Environment Committee, and is
a member of the National Sea change Taskforce.

Carole
Reid
|

|
Carole is
currently the Chief Executive of Shipwreck Coast Tourism which
is responsible for industry development, product development and
marketing of the Shipwreck Coast Region. Carole is also a Director
of Great Southern Touring Route which is responsible for the international
marketing of the Great Ocean Road region, Grampians and Ballarat
and a board member of Great Ocean Road Marketing. As well as her
role as board member for Western Coastal Board, she is currently
a board member of Realise Enterprises, a service providing opportunities
for people with special needs and Board Member of Monivae College
Foundation, Hamilton. Caroles past roles have included Chief
Commissioner for Warrnambool City Council, board member of Victorian
Tour Operators Association, Country Victorian Tourism Council,
Lyndoch Aged Care and South West TAFE.

Honorary
Assoc. Professor John Sherwood
|

Dr John
Sherwood: holds qualifications in science, philosophy, education
and
environmental studies, with extensive experience as a research
scientist in freshwater,
marine and estuarine systems and environmental management.
He is Honorary Associate Professor in the School of Life and Environmental
Sciences at
Deakin University in Warrnambool and is serving his second term
on the Board.

Oliver
Moles
|

|
Oliver is
currently the Director of Sustainable Development with Moyne Shire
and has over 35 years experience in the planning and government
fields. While in local government he has led teams that have won
State Awards for Best Practice and gained extensive experience
working in regional and rural areas. He directs services that
cover a range of areas including planning, building, health, economic
development, waste management, fire and emergency management,
local laws, sustainability and environment. He has also worked
overseas with major redevelopments of town centres, and new housing
and industrial developments.
During several
years with Fisher Stewart (later Earth Tech) in Australia, he
was a senior planning consultant, which broadened his networks
and understanding of the development sector. He was appointed
by the Minister for Planning as a Panel Member for three years
prior to joining the Department of Planning and Community Development
in 2003 where he was Regional Manager for NE Victoria for 5 years.
As a senior planning professional Oliver has extensive experience
in virtually all areas of statutory and strategic planning including
residential estates, multi-unit development, subdivision, industrial
and commercial, heritage, coastal, alpine and telecommunications.
His local government experience has given Oliver broad experience
in governance, finance and tendering, policy development, community
planning, and fire and emergency management. A regular convenor
and presenter at forums and conferences, as well as an occasional
guest lecturer at universities, Oliver is a confident public speaker.

Mark
Edmonds BA GAICD

Mark is
currently CEO of Faggs Mitre 10 and has extensive business
experience in
leadership, governance, marketing, property, and product sourcing
and services
procurement through his 30 year retail career. He is also a graduate
of the Australian
Institute of Company Directors.
Mark is the current Chairman of Barwon Coast Committee of Management
(CoM) and
provides a link between the Board and CoMs. Mark also resides
in Ocean Grove.

Ray
Page

|
Ray arrived in Australia in 1964 after seventeen years growing
up in England. He joined the
Victorian Railways in August 1964, and progressed to become a
signalman, then training
officer for the City Loop and a research officer. In 1982 he was
seconded to the Ministry of
Transport working on special projects. This was a six week secondment
that lasted ten
years. In 1993 he joined the Minister for Natural Resources as
an adviser responsible for
Forests, Fire Service (Forests), Fishing, Flora and Fauna Guarantee
Act and Alpine
Resorts. In 1996 he joined VRFish as the Executive Officer. VRFish
is the peak-body
representing recreational fishers in Victoria. He retired in 2005.
Also from 1978 Ray decided
to improve his education spending fifteen years completing part-time
studies at RMIT and
Deakin University. Ray has been involved with the Corangamite
Catchment Management
Authority, Barwon Water, lectured at RMIT and continues to be
active in the community of
Torquay.

Matt
Gorman

Matt is a town planner who, since completing a Master of Urban
Planning Degree from the
University of Melbourne in 1994, has worked firstly as a statutory
planning officer in local
government and then (from 2003) as a consultant in his own business,
Big Picture Urban
Rural. Matt has a wide range of planning interests, including
development in rural, historic,
small township and other environmentally-sensitive areas, native
vegetation, intensive
animal husbandry, dog-keeping, extractive industry, road safety,
licensed premises,
broadacre subdivision, infill multi-dwelling development, and
multi-storey commercial and/or
residential development. Matts work involves the writing
of quality planning reports and
letters, lodgement of permit applications and representation of
clients at VCAT. Matts
clients include urban or rural councils, statutory authorities,
other consultants and the
general public.

Glenn
Wallace
|

|
Glenn has over 30 years of experience working with the environment.
He has worked as a
ranger at Victorian parks including Port Campbell National Park,
Otway National Park and
Mt Richmond National Park. Both as a government employee and an
environmental
consultant he has provided input into a number of management plans
within Victoria
including Port Campbell National Park, the former Otway National
Park, Bay of Islands
Coastal Park and the Gellibrand Estuary and Wetland Management
Plan. He was also
project officer coordinating the development of the Macquarie
Marshes Water Management
Plan in NSW.
Glenn has qualifications in Horticultural Science, Applied Science
- Conservation and
Resource Development and has recently completed a Diploma of Carbon
Management.
Glenn has also been operating a farm and accommodation business
for 15 years and is
passionate about striving to achieve the best balance between
the utilization,
preservation and enrichment of our natural environment.

Steve
Blackley (Executive Officer)

Steve commenced with the Board in December 2005. He was previously
Executive Officer
of the Central Coastal Board from 2002-2004 and has worked for
a variety of
organisations involved in coastal management including the NSW
Coastal Council, NSW
National Parks and Wildlife Service, NSW Fisheries and Great Ocean
Road Coast
Committee. He was a member of the Surf Coast Shire Planning Committee
during 2004-
05 and has worked with a range of non-government organisations.
He has a degree in
Coastal Management and is a member of the Academic Advisory Committee
for the
Bachelor and Masters of Applied Science programs at Southern Cross
University.

Carlee
Hamilton (Program Support Officer)
|

|
Carlee commenced
with the Board in April 2010 and provides administrative program
support to the Executive Officer and the Board. Carlee has a well-substantiated
background in finance administration and executive support working
within the Department of Sustainability since 2003. Carlee also
has a diploma in Business Administration.
